Bill Paskewitz and
Salvador Valencia are both local artists. Paskewitz is from Antioch and
Valencia is from Pittsburg. Both artists handle watercolor in a highly
confident broad and bold manner.
Recent watercolors of
Bill Paskewitz show a strong contrast of light and shade on
foreign forms of architecture. “I paint what I immediately see when I
work my compositions leaving out the details. I let the essence of the
first glance challenge my perception. I think about the memory of the
first glance of the place. The watercolor is a reminder of that
experience.”
Salvador
Valencia is a contemporary plein- aire artist whose passion for life
and art are vividly seen in colorful watercolors. Painting outdoors
enables him to capture the true effects of color in sunlight and shade.
By experimenting with color and design, he intensifies the mood and
subject of his work and challenges the viewers to look closer at colors
seen versus what is perceived.
