CHECK-IN /
DAY OF EVENT
Wear sunscreen, shoes, and hat. When you check in at
the cleanup location, you will be given trash bags,
pencils, and a special data card to tally the items
you collect. If at all possible, bring your own
container for collecting trash, such as a reusable
bucket, a milk jug with the top cut off, or a reused
shopping bag. You can also bring your own work
gloves. With a little effort, you can help move us
closer to being a zero waste event by reducing the
amount of disposable trash bags and gloves discarded
on Coastal Cleanup Day.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR
ALL VOLUNTEERS
-
SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT
Please be
careful crossing streets and keep track of all the children on your team.
Team members should wear plastic gloves and use pick-up tools to protect
themselves from harm and disease. There should be "extra" gloves in your
team kit, if needed.
-
PUBLIC vs. PRIVATE PROPERTY
Please pick up litter and debris on
public property only, i.e., sidewalks, streets, parks, etc. DO NOT pick up litter on private
property. This includes home driveways, front yards, and private
parking lots. You don't want to be charged with "trespassing".
-
ALL VOLUNTEERS
Please return
any equipment, i.e.: pick-up tools, extra empty trash bags, extra
gloves, etc. to the Check-in site.
-
VALUABLES
Any valuables found
during the Coastal Clean-Up should be referred to the Site Coordinators who will
attempt to locate the owner of the article.
-
SAVE YOUR WRISTBANDS!
They are
your "TICKET" for entry for your free lunch. Lunch will be served
right after the clean-up on 1st Street (by the AMTRAK Station).
